UMD Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Team Yellow

In light of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to find a meaningful way for students to understand, get involved, and make an impact on children who are fighting for their lives daily.

Every day 43 children are diagnosed with cancer, and approximately 40,000 children will go through treatment each year -- it is the #1 cause of death for children. Unfortunately, only 4% of government funded cancer research goes specifically towards childhood cancer. This is a sad statistic that needs to change.

Chai Lifeline is an organization dedicated to helping Jewish families who have children battling cancer and other life-threatening conditions. They provide financial, psychological, and physiological support for all family members. All proceeds raised by TeamYellow at UMD will go towards The Evan Levy Fund within Chai Lifeline.

The Evan Levy fund was created by the Levy family in memory of their 4-year old son who unfortunately lost his battle to cancer in 2015. The fund is meant to financially support ANY Chai Lifeline family with medical expenses, childcare, or any other necessary programming.

Any donation amount to this fund will make a tremendous difference in their lives! Please feel free to share this page with your family and friends, so as a community we can give strength to our cancer superheroes!

Let’s make a difference this month!
