Tour de Simcha Round 2!

This summer I will once again be participating in Chai Lifeline's Tour de Simcha. This is no ordinary cycling event; it’s an exhilarating ride ending at Camp Simcha, a remarkable overnight camp that provides seriously ill children with a vacation from sickness, restoring their spirits and renewing their determination to fight.

This year will be even more meaningful, as I ride along side a team of fierce women, riding together to honor and elevate the memory of my cousin, Evan Levy z"l.

It's so fitting that we are riding into Camp Simcha in Evan's name. Evan was full of laughter and smiles--way beyond his years. To know Evan was to experience a smile so warm it touched the depth of your soul. And at Camp Simcha--there is nothing but smiles.

The ride won't be easy; neither is life for a child with cancer or other serious illness. Camp Simcha and its sister camp, Camp Simcha Special, are Chai Lifeline’s flagship programs. Every year these two camps offer 430 children a chance to forget about illness and just be kids again. To learn more about Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha special, visit campsimcha.org.

On Tuesday, July 16th, 2019, we will be biking from Central Jersey through Upstate NY to Camp Simcha. Every dollar Team Evan raises will go to a fund established in Evan's memory. The Evan Levy z"l Fund, a division of Chai Lifeline, helps parents spend precious time with their child battling illness. Gear after gear, hill after hill, rain or shine, we will get it done, all the while smiling for Evan and the children of Camp Simcha.

My objective is to raise $5,000 by then, and I hope you will help me reach this goal. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

Riding in Recovery of

Henny

Age: 17

Hi my name is Henny.
I was born with a rare skin condition known as dermatosparaxis. My skin is extremely fragile and soft. Growing up always needing to be careful, refraining from many activities, getting countless bruises and always needing stitches was just a part of life. A life I got used to over time. At camp I met many friends who were like me. Read More
Although our diagnosis's differ in truth we are very much the same. There I met girls who also sat on the side by gym, who also had to be careful, and knew what it was like to be in the hospital. I have been blessed to attend camp for the past twelve years. But it wasn't until last year when I saw the power of the enormous support group I have collected over the years. In December of 2015 I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called ulcerative colitis. It attacks me and pretty much affects every moment of my day to day life. Both diseases continue to aggravate each other on a daily basis causing them both to be extremely complicated. Chai lifeline is an organization unlike any other. It's not just two blissful weeks every summer. It's not Just special food brought to the hospital. It's not just the visits. It's the volunteers who get you through the year and make camp the special place it is. It's the shabbatons, events and retreats for the whole entire family. It's that bond that you share with girls who understand as you sit around in the bunkhouse comparing side effects And your funniest hospital stories. It's the friends that will last you a lifetime. It's that beat in my heart that won't stop beating.
